We are pleased to inform you that the issue impacting Microsoft Services and AT&T connectivity, which affected some users’ access to Jonas Cloud and web applications, has now been resolved.
Resolution Time: As of 9:14 EDT, Microsoft and AT&T have confirmed the resolution of the issue.
We think it’s important to note – at the time of sending you an email earlier today, we understood the problem to be between Microsoft and AT&T.
We’ve since learned that the problem was solely with AT&T.

Mitigated – Customer reports of connectivity issues while utilizing AT and T

What happened?
Between approximately 11:46 and 13:14 UTC on 12 September 2024, customers using AT&T to connect to Microsoft services experienced issues accessing our services.
What went wrong and why?
During this time, all Microsoft services were still available.
Automated systems in the Microsoft network began mitigating the issue by shifting traffic away at 13:01 UTC, resulting in improvements for Microsoft customers. We confirmed with AT&T that they reverted a change at 13:14 UTC, after which time we started to see signs of recovery, mitigating the issue.

ACTION REQUIRED – 2024 Payroll Only Update for Kansas
The new withholding tables now allow for a personal exemption in addition to dependent allowances. It is therefore recommended to have employees in Kansas fill out the revised K-4 form and update the correct number of state allowances in Jonas.

Users who use any of the following Jonas apps:
1. Field Time – Incorrect user license message
In some instances, users received the incorrect message when attempting to log into Field Time without a user license. The message has been improved so that the user clearly understands the issue and required actions.
2. Field Project – Job Unit reporting
In Field Project > Job Units, when viewing the Standard Report (Job Unit Report) the selection of ‘All’ for the ‘Job Number’ field in ‘Company’ information resulted in no records being displayed. The program has been corrected to allow for the display of correct information when ‘All’ Jobs or individual jobs are selected.
3. eMobile – WO completed before eMobile Prep Bill not sent to Back Office
An issue was identified when a technician changed the appointment status to ‘Complete’ or ‘Not Finished’ and then generated an invoice in the field. When the work order or appointment was then submitted, an update was not sent back to Jonas. This resulted in the ‘Upload from Mobile screen’ not showing the related costs and the status was not updated in Dispatch Scheduler.
Suggested Workaround When technicians invoice in the field, they should not update the status to ‘Complete’ or ‘Not Finished’ prior to creating an invoice. When needed, they may select other statuses before creating the Prepare Billing.
4. Jonas Documents: Miscellaneous issues reported
Issue 1: In some instances, users were unable to download documents because of an incorrect URL. The URL has been corrected so that documents can be opened correctly.
Issue 2: Users were unable to drag and drop signatures when approving documents in Jonas Docs on mobile devices that use Chrome and Safari browsers. The program has been updated to address this issue.
Issue 3: When running Jonas Documents on a mobile device, some columns were removed due to space adjustments in My Documents, Roles and Access Profile, and Administration. As a result, users were unable to filter properly as the filters were getting cut off. Additionally, some icons, date field columns and text were misaligned. Corrections have been made to address these issues.

Customers who are using a *.jonasapp.com SSL certificate and running any of the following Jonas apps:
*Please Note: Customers who do not have external communication with Jonas Apps and/or are using their own SSL certificate will see the update performed but no functional changes will be done to their Jonas Web Server installation.
Why is this happening?
SSL certificates are responsible for securing communication between applications in Jonas. In order to ensure that the communication is secure, the certificates need to be routinely updated.

On Friday, July 12, 2024, at 5:00 AM local time, eMobile was updated with a hotfix.
On the afternoon of Monday, July 15, 2024, a Product update will be made available for download with a hotfix for Dispatch Scheduler.

1. eMobile – WO Summary office copy not showing service items.
When a field technician works on a service item and completes the work order (WO), the WO Summary PDF that is sent to the office does not display the service items they worked on.
On July 12, 2024, at 5:00 AM local time, a hotfix update was performed on eMobile to fix the issue.
2. Dispatch Scheduler – May be unresponsive when launching the WO screen.
When a dispatch user launches the Jonas WO screen by right-clicking on an appointment and selecting ‘View WO’ or by pressing the pencil tool inside the edit appointment, the Jonas WO screen opens.
When the user closes the same Jonas WO screen to go back to the scheduler board, the board sometimes becomes unresponsive.
On the afternoon of Monday, July 15, 2024, please download the new Product Update, which will contain the hotfix for Dispatch Scheduler by clicking HERE.
3. Jonas Browser – Users unable to check in/out documents in Jonas Documents.
Users in Jonas Documents were unable to check in/out documents when running Jonas Documents in Jonas Browser.

v. When documents were selected for printing and the printing process was completed, the Print Documents dialog displayed a cross (X) in front of the document name instead of a check mark.
vi. In instances where the Copy From Access Profile dropdown is empty, when a restriction is added and the user clicks on Validate in select custom SQL, an error occurs.
vii. When a User attempts to forward an email as part of a process where a document has been Approved or Denied, an error occurs.
viii. In some instances, Users selecting View Documents encountered an error when required values were missing.
i. Charts, Pivots and Matrix Reports – When a Date Range filter was added to a Chart, Pivot and/or Matrix Report, the final date in the date range was excluded from the filter.

On June 3, 2024, we are launching a new Geo-Redundant Storage (GRS) service to provide even more powerful data backup options to meet your business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
What is GRS?
GRS is another data backup option that will complement your existing Locally Redundant Storage (LRS), which is included with The Jonas Cloud.
The purpose of GRS is to ensure you still have access to your data in situations where local outages or disasters render your local data inaccessible. This new GRS “a la carte” service will perform daily backups and store them in another region located away from where your Jonas software data is located.

ATTENTION REQUIRED: User Account Management Utility Issue Resolved
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, we notified you that the User Account Management utility (UAM) was not able to “create an administrator” and “create a new cloud user account”. This issue was resolved as of Thursday, April 16, 2024. The UAM is now fully functional.

The Payroll Only update was deployed for Jonas Cloud Customer on April 15, 2024.
In the Dashboard, the All Approval Inboxes chart displayed documents that had not yet been routed for Approval. This was the result of an incorrect data count.
When the Field Time application was accessed by Jonas personnel using the Superadmin password, access failed if the selected Client ID did not have an active Field Project license.
The allocation selection in Create Requisition included an option for N/A allocation in error. The program has been updated to remove this option from Create Requisition as it is only available with Create PO.
When inside a work order and a user pressed SAVE or SEND UPDATE, if the environment was set up to send email notifications, but the eMobile application could not connect to the SMTP server to send the email, the UI would get stuck indefinitely.
When users drilled into the payroll notes from the web import, an error #42 was occurring. Jonas Cloud clients received this update on April 15, 2024.

Who’s affected?
The Payroll Only update was deployed to Jonas Connect on April 15, 2024.
In the Dashboard, the All Approval Inboxes chart displayed documents that had not yet been routed for Approval. This was the result of an incorrect data count.
When the Field Time application was accessed by Jonas personnel using the Superadmin password, access failed if the selected Client ID did not have an active Field Project license.
The allocation selection in Create Requisition included an option for N/A allocation in error. The program has been updated to remove this option from Create Requisition as it is only available with Create PO.

Why is this happening?
SSL certificates are responsible for securing communication between applications in Jonas. In order to ensure that the communication is secure, the certificates need to be routinely updated.
If this impacts me, is there anything I need to do?
Failing to Validate Windows Account Credentials could mean the new SSL certificate will not be installed on February 15, 2024, which could result in the breakdown of communication between the field and back office on February 21 2024.
On February 15, 2024, you may encounter a temporary outage, which could last for the duration of the update from 5:00 AM to 5:20 AM local time, though it will likely be shorter.
eMobile Users: We recommend that you do not submit eMobile work orders during the update period from 5:00 AM to 5:20 AM local time on February 15, 2024.
Scenario 1
In preparation of an old SSL certificate expiring and a new SSL certificate being updated by the Jonas Construction team. The next update will be on February 15, 2024 at 5:00 AM local time.

As part of the phase 2 plans, the Jonas Apps admin password will no longer accept the eMobile admin password. A designated administrator must be selected and that individual will log in with their Jonas credentials.

When we first created the administrator portal for our Field Application administrators, we used the existing eMobile administrator password that our clients had. We did this to minimize the number of administrator passwords our users needed to record and keep track of.
As the Field Applications have continued to grow in functionality and complexity, we believe it is important that the administrator portal have a dedicated administrator role linked to an existing Jonas user.
To address this, we enhanced the Field Applications administration portal to select a single designated administrator from your existing Jonas users, who will be able to use their Jonas login credentials when accessing the administrator portal.

When using the Jonas Enterprise menu, users were unable to print a Jonas Forms Work Order Ticket. The program has been updated to correct this issue.
Payroll time entries, recorded via Field Time resulted in the Weekly Hours not displaying in ‘Project View-More Details’ in some instances. The program has been updated to correct this issue.
When recording an AP Batch, the new attribute ‘Ordered By’ was not being shared with Jonas Documents. The program has been updated to pass this attribute value to Jonas Documents.
When recording ‘Subcontract Holdback/Retainage’ release invoices, the invoice document was not sent to Jonas Documents. The program has been corrected to address this issue.

Summary Statement
The July 2023 Payroll Only Update now contains updated withholding tables for the state of Illinois.
Please be advised that future payroll changes for January 2024 will require you to be on at least Jonas version 2020.

For the state of Illinois, the standard exemption allowance used in the calculation has been reduced to $2425.00 for each allowance claimed by employees on Line 1 of the IL-W-4 form.

After the eService app update on July 19, 2023, users will not be able to proceed with their existing login until they change their password. The prompt will stop once the user has updated their password based on the new rules found below.

These Jonas apps may stop working if the SSL certificate is not updated on your server before it expires on July 26, 2023.
Please Note: Customers who do not have external communication with Jonas Apps and/or are using their own SSL certificate will see the update performed but no functional changes will be done to their Jonas Web Server installation.
Why is this happening?
SSL certificates are responsible for executing secure communication with applications in Jonas. The certificates need to be routinely updated to ensure the communications are secure and to avoid potential downtime of your apps.

***Before the update runs on July 24, 2023, please ensure that your Windows User Account configured to Jonas Web Server service contains valid user credentials so that we can successfully update the SSL certificate on your server.***

On July 24, 2023, you may encounter a temporary outage, which could last for the duration of the update from 5:00 AM to 5:20 AM local time, though it will likely be shorter. We recommend that you log off any Jonas Apps during the update period.

If your administrator has received an email similar to the sample email below, you need to validate your user credentials.

Please be advised that effective July 1, 2023, a new employee deduction of 0.58% must be set up for Washington state employees. This is required as per the Washington State WA Cares Fund.

Summary Statement:
A Jonas Software hotfix will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 5:00 AM local time for Jonas Documents and Field Time.
Jonas Docs Issues:
1. The issue with mapping null values for specific customer ‘data-sets’ columns has been resolved.
2. Uploading document exception with the prompt window appearing to the user has been resolved.
3. The issue with the Lookup not working properly with some of the customers’ datasets has been corrected.
4. Inconsistency with the number of available approvers displayed in the popup window opening from Jonas Documents and Jonas Software due to approvers having a “User restriction” for “creator” field applied that were not visible when Ask level dialog pop-up was displayed in AP Batches has been corrected.
Field Time Issues:
1. Entry method drop-down not populating in Grid Time Entry has been corrected. For Field Time users who have J/C set as their default entry method, the Entry Method drop-down was empty in Crew/Grid entry.
2. In Reports, when a column for earningValue, which displays Hours, Quantities, or Dollars in unique columns, the total value for each column was not being displayed. This has been corrected to include the column totals.

In the previous post from last week, we notified you that Jonas 2018 would be sunset on June 24, 2022, which means that we will no longer provide updates and enhancements for Jonas Version 2018.

When & what is happening?
On June 24, 2022, we completed the sunset of Jonas 2018. In 2020 we undertook a project to improve our ability to help you to use Jonas software to achieve your business goals. To that end, we improved our software development and release processes.
One important tactic within this project was to phase out the availability of multiple versions of Jonas software. Developing and quality-assuring multiple Jonas software versions thwarted our ability to focus on the features, enhancements, and quality of each version. As we sunset version 2018, we will be able to focus on one version of the software that is enhanced, updated, and quality-assured.
Another important tactic within this project was to stop providing one big release per year by breaking it down into four smaller releases throughout the year – with each new release replacing the previous one. This change in our release strategy enables us to adapt quickly to the rapidly changing marketplace. The most effective way we can help you to achieve your business objectives is to provide you with features and enhancements in a timely manner.

On Friday, May 27, we posted a Job Billing Hotfix Update. Since then, we discovered that the criteria for those that are affected were inaccurate from what we mentioned in our previous post. Please review this updated post to verify how this change may impact your software. ATTENTION REQUIRED: Bug in Q3 Update for Jonas 2018 and 2021
Summary Statement:
The Q3 update for both Jonas 2018.3271 and Jonas 2021.Q3 contained a critical bug that may impact some clients. The bug may result in “Charge Parts to Work Order” entries posting out of balance, beginning from the last time Jonas was updated.

Clients who meet both of the following criteria may be impacted by this issue:

Please carefully review your audit previews prior to posting Charge Parts entries. Correcting journal entries will be required to resolve any incorrect postings that have already occurred.
Please review the following KB Article to identify if you have been impacted, as well as steps to take to correct your postings.
If assistance is required in correcting your entries, please have your Customer Administrator / Controller log a case via Jonas Connect, with the subject, “One-sided journal entry – Charge Parts Out of balance”.
For Customers Who Host Their Own Data/Have Their Own Cloud Storage:
Even if you have run it previously, please download and run the latest version of the ‘Payroll Update and Hotfix patch’ dated January 17th. The update can be downloaded HERE.

To be as clear and succinct as possible, given our understanding of the nature of the issue, the Jonas Enterprise Software does not expose any of our clients to this security vulnerability described in the CVE-2021-44228. We make this promise because we do not use, in any way, the Apache Log4j library. Software applications that use this code may have exposure to the security vulnerability. Because we do not use this library, we do not expose this vulnerability within the Jonas software. This includes API endpoints.
That said, if you are using other software on your device or workstation that utilizes the Apache Log4j library, we cannot guarantee that you will not be impacted by this security vulnerability. We are clarifying that this security vulnerability would never be sourced from Jonas Software or any Jonas modules you may be using.

Sunsetting means that we will no longer provide product updates and enhancements for version 12.8.

We are “sunsetting” version 12.8 so that we can focus on releasing the latest and greatest version of Jonas software – version 2021. Version 2021 contains many new enhancements, fixes and security improvements. This version will also serve as our foundation for unique and powerful innovations, which will increase your capacity to achieve your business objectives.
Could you tell me more about Jonas 2021?
We will be posting more information about Jonas 2021 release date, as well as information on all of the exciting and powerful enhancements that it contains, which we strongly recommend for our clients to use. To that end, we’ll also provide guidance on how to effectively upgrade to this version.

Your server will update automatically at 5:00AM Local Time the morning of July 14th 2021. Please ensure that your server is able to run uninterrupted between 5:00AM and 5:30AM local time.
**On Wednesday, July 14th, Jonas Software Updates will be available on Jonas Connect for version 12.8, 2018 and Jonas 2021(Beta).
To upgrade to Jonas 2018, please reach out to our Account Manager. If you are already on Jonas 2018, 12.8, or the 2021 beta program, visit the Downloads page.

Please be advised even if you do not have New Brunswick payroll, you will still receive a message when calculating taxes for any pay ending dates between June 20th and June 30th. The message will ask if you want to use the July tax tables – the message can be ignored (i.e. can be answered No or Yes) if you do not have New Brunswick Payroll.
***Jonas Cloud Customers will automatically receive the update on June 22nd, 2021 at 5:00 AM local time. No further action is required***

ATTENTION: New “File Transferring Process” in the Jonas Cloud
To improve security and performance when transferring files between the Jonas Cloud and your workstation, we are transitioning from the Q-Dir solution to the Microsoft OneDrive solution. Over the coming weeks, we will be enabling MS OneDrive on your Jonas Cloud instance so that you can setup, configure and use it.
Who is impacted by this?
If you are currently using Jonas Cloud as your hosting option, this impacts you.
IMPORTANT: We will provide you training materials in the form of KB Articles and Training Videos.
For a short time, you will be able to use both Q-Dir and MS OneDrive. This timing overlap is intended to enable you to use Q-Dir, while familiarizing yourself with MS OneDrive. Once you’ve gained confidence using MS OneDrive for your file transferring requirements, we’ll remove Q-Dir from your Jonas Cloud instance. From that moment forward, MS OneDrive will then be your more secure and faster file transferring solution.
Jonas Cloud “MS OneDrive Early Adopters” are very pleased with the increase in performance and speed, so we are very excited to launch MS OneDrive on the Jonas Cloud!

On May 17, 2021 we’ll be rolling out the product update for the latest Jonas version.
What Action Do I Need To Take?
This update will automatically be occurring on May 17, 2021 at 4:00AM (local time). We ask that all users are logged off the cloud between the hours of 3:00am-5:00am local time. The software update will be completed by 5:00am (local time).

ATTENTION REQUIRED: Notice of Jonas Cloud outage!
Earlier today, between the hours of 1:30pm EDT and 3:30pm EDT there was an issue that prevented Jonas Cloud users from launching Jonas apps.
This affected all customers who use Jonas Cloud as their hosting platform for Jonas. At 1:50pm EDT, the Active Directory service became no longer available. The Active Directory is responsible for user authentication and password verification.
This means that without this functionality, users trying to launch the Jonas Apps would not have been verified, and therefore seen an error.
As of 3:30pm EDT, this issue is no longer affecting any users, and has been resolved. The Active Directory was restored, thereby providing authentication and verification for users as they launch Jonas Apps. In order to ensure that this does not happen again in the future, we have made architectural changes to the Jonas Cloud infrastructure.
We apologize for the interruption of service to your workday.
